About Us
Classic modern sells vintage modern lighting, textiles and rugs, ceramics, glass and other collectable items from the 1950s, 60s and 70s in design styles ranging from Danish/Scandinavian midcentury modern through pop and op-art space-age to Panton-era psychedelic. We acquire our stock during regular buying trips around Europe and in particular Scandinavia, sourcing each item individually and selecting only the very best from the hundreds of suppliers we visit each year.
Many of the items we offer for sale are established design classics by well-known artists and architects, while others are less well-known and have been selected on the basis of their classic modern style and high production quality. Years of painstaking primary research into some of the more obscure designers and producers whose work has attracted us has resulted in our Design Spotlight articles, where you can read our original and unique profiles of Lyfa, Fog & Mørup, Simon Henningsen (son of the celebrated PH), Torben Ørskov, Ege Rya and others.
Established online since 2003, we are based in London, UK, and ship to our many customers both in the UK and around the world who frequently return to buy again.
