A 1970's Søholm ceramic wall plaque with deep red enamel glaze

This classic Scandinavian modern handcrafted stoneware wall plaque was designed and created at Søholm Stentoj on the island of Bornholm, Denmark in the 70's. Incised on the reverse side with the Søholm Stentoj Bornholm Denmark imprint together with its edition number, the plaque is a characteristically substantial Søholm plaque, weighing in at around 1.1 kilos (2lbs 6oz) at a size of around 17.75cm (7 inches) square with a 2.5cm (1 inch) depth. The strawberry, bat or heart-like motif is rendered in a rich, high-gloss red glaze which, like a heart, is filled with a network of darker red capillaries.
