A large vintage 1950s Stavangerflint dish with birds design handpainted by Inger Waage

With a diameter of 29cm (11.5 inches), this dish is a large version of Stavangerflint artist Inger Waage's famous two-birds design. The dish is in very good condition with no damage or wear beyond some light cutlery marks to the glaze.

As can be seen in the final images below, the same Inger Waage design is illustrated on the front cover of a comprehensive survey of her work, Inger Waage: Design for Stavangerflint 1953–1979, recently published by Jan Gjerde in Norwegian with an English summary (available from sven.haugbraaten@lyse.net). The book includes an essay by classic modern's own research partner and friend Sune Riishede.
