A heavy green textured glass dish hand-made in Finland, attributed to Timo Sarpaneva |
||
|
This top-quality vintage art glass has a diameter of 19.5cm (7.5 inches) and weighs in at a hefty 2.27kg (5lb). While the top surface and main body are crystal clear rich green glass, the outer surface has a moulded broken-ice-like texture identical to Timo Sarpaneva's 1964 Finlandia range for Iittala. Sarpaneva is reputed to have achieved the texture by pressing the molten glass into a mould of compressed wood chips which he then burned. For more images please scroll down the page. |
