Copper pendant light with Aalto-like slatted central band

With its central slatted band allowing a gentle light to glow through the gaps, this vintage 1950's multilayered pendant light is reminiscent of Alvar Aalto's lamp designs. The rich red copper layers are positioned to protect the eye from direct glare from the bulb from every angle, and even the light from the slatted louvre strip is softened by an internal perspex band, invisible from the outside. The light is in exceptionally good condition, with barely a sign of its age beyond a small patch of tiny speckles to the copper on the bottom layer (see images). It has a diameter of approximately 26cm (10 inches) and a height of 24cm (9.5 inches). It takes an Edison screw-fitting bulb max 60w (not supplied), and all electrical components have been replaced to meet or exceed current UK and international safety regulations.
