Of all the lights produced at Nordisk Solar Compagni during its heyday, the most enduring has proved to be Sven Middelboe's 1970's Verona, which won several awards including an iF product design award and has become a timeless classic of Danish lighting. The Verona has been reproduced and copied by several other manufacturers since Nordisk Solar Compagni ceased production in the 1980s, but this example is an original Nordisk Solar Compagni version.
The Verona's popularity rests upon both its obvious aesthetic qualities and its superb functionality – namely its ability to cast an effective light that is fully shielded from glare. This 40cm model has a gold-coloured lacquer on its spun aluminium outer surfaces and plain white interior surfaces with the usual Sven Middelboe anti-glare grey interior face to the lowest layer. The light is in excellent condition with barely any sign of age or use.
