Jo Hammerborg's sleek modernist designs were the keystone of Fog & Mørup's enormous success both within Denmark and internationally during the 1960s, and the Nova pendant ceiling light is a typical Hammerborg design, combining functional and aesthetic considerations to produce a timeless classic.
The Nova was produced in three versions – copper, brass and aluminium – and we have two of the golden-coloured solid brass Novas currently available. They have a diameter of 40cm (15.75 inches) and a height of 18cm (7 inches), and take a standard-sized screw bulb max 100w.
One of the lights (pictured to the left in the images below) is in very good condition, with a few small marks to the copper but no damage to the interior paintwork. The second light is in fair condition with more substantial wear, most notably in the form of pinprick-sized but fairly extensive light pitting to the brass (see detail pictures below), but its interior paintwork remains in very good condition with just one scuff to the dark grey paint inside the central ring.
The two lights have slightly different internal frameworks for holding the various parts of the lamp in position (see pictures below). Both are original and they perform exactly the same function. The prices of the two lights reflect the difference in their condition (see below for details), but both lights are presentable and in good working order.
