These colourful vintage 1960s/70s Danish art wall lamps were designed by Claus Bolby and manufactured by his own lighting company Cebo Industri of Silkeborg, Denmark in the late 60s to early 70s.
The faces of the lamps have been constructed from layered strips of yellow or orange acrylic resin, with a few ochre touches (in the yellow acrylic) or red touches (in the orange acrylic) buried below the surface. Small bubbles trapped in the resin strips add texture and light effects as the lamps are switched on – when the colours become much richer, deeper and more vivid, and the buried colour becomes more prominent.
The acrylic faces are mounted onto aluminium frames which hold the electric bulb and which have holes at the back to allow them to be hung from a nail or picture hook. The lamps are fitted with continental European-style two-pin plugs and take a small screw-fitting candle bulb max 40w. The dimensions of the lights are approximately 37.5cm (14.75 inches) height, 13cm (5 inches) width and 9cm (3.5 inches) depth. All are in excellent condition.
