This shiny red metal light was made in Scandinavia, probably in Denmark or Sweden, in the 60s or 70s and is very characteristic of that era with its space-age ufo style of design. The double-trumpet shape is reminiscent of a number of classic Scandinavian designs of the period including furniture by Saarinen and Panton.
The lamp is light in weight but strong and resistant to bending. Its height is 22.5cm (approximately 9 inches) and its diameter is 29.5cm (around 11.5 inches). The lamp is made in two sections, the top section a smaller version of the bottom section, and each like a flared cup with six round holes in the base. The two sections can be swivelled independently of each other, allowing the two sets of holes to be aligned or not, ie opened or closed, thereby adjusting the amount of light cast upwards from the light (see pictures below).
Although two lights are pictured here, we have just one of these lights currently available. It is in very good condition with minimal signs of previous use.
