Vintage 1970s measuring scales designed by Marco Zanuso for Terraillon

Designed by Marco Zanuso in 1970 for Terraillon, these classic space-age modern measuring scales are in excellent, virtually mint condition. The chunky, minimal lines of their rich egg-yolk yellow ABS plastic body gives them a timeless quality which means they could easily pass for a contemporary design of 2010.

The lid acts as a platform on which items can be placed directly for weighing; alternatively it can be turned over to form a bowl. The scale is viewed through a clear perspex lens which has a slightly fish-eye perspective to magnify the reading. The measuring range is only up to 500g, so this is not an item for general kitchen use but a specialist tool for weighing small quantities. A disclaimer beneath the lid announces that the scales are not legal for trade.
