Vintage graters and slicers designed by Danish designer Bjarne Bo in the mid-60s

These stylish graters and slicers or mandolins were designed in 1965 by Bjarne Bo and produced in Denmark. The rounded handle and shoulders of these classic space-age kitchenware items allow the devices to be gripped firmly either by threading fingers through the hole or by grasping the whole handle.

Measuring 7.5cm x 22.5cm (3 x 8.75 inches), the grater is entirely made from very strong melamine which offers a surprisingly sharp and effective shredding mechanism. The slicer/mandolin is also melamine but has a metal blade. We have a number of vintage examples of these items available in brown, red, orange, yellow and green.
