These stylish graters and slicers or mandolins were designed in 1965 by Bjarne Bo and produced in Denmark. The rounded handle and shoulders of these classic space-age kitchenware items allow the devices to be gripped firmly either by threading fingers through the hole or by grasping the whole handle. Measuring 7.5cm x 22.5cm (3 x 8.75 inches), the grater is entirely made from very strong melamine which offers a surprisingly sharp and effective shredding mechanism. The slicer/mandolin is also melamine but has a metal blade. We currently have a few vintage examples of the graters remaining in stock, but slicers are no longer available. All the items offered for sale by classic modern are genuine original vintage pieces from the 50s, 60s and 70s and (unless described as mint or unused) may show some evidence of their age consistent with careful previous use. We do, however, select items on the basis of condition and quality as well as style, and will draw attention to any specific damage such as cracks, chips or scratches. |
