An original Sixties pure wool Wittrup Rya rug with semi-abstract artwork by Lotta Ring entitled Vinland

This vintage Sixties shag-pile rya rug retains its original label on the reverse side which reveals that the design was specially commissioned by Danish rya manufacturer Wittrup Rya of Vejle, Denmark. Entitled Vinland, the design, created by Lotta Ring, is a semi-abstract interpretation of an aerial or mountainside view of a mediterranean agricultural landscape.

The artwork uses a spectrum of olive greens through to cornfield yellow, with touches of dark ochre. The rug has been machine woven in 100 per cent pure new mothproofed, colourfast wool. It measures 140 x 200cm (55 x 79 inches) and is in excellent condition.
