An acrylic rya rug with art nouveau revival-style onions design made in Scotland by John Lyle Carpets of Glasgow |
||
|
This original vintage rya rug was machine-made in 100 per cent acrylic in Glasgow in the 1960s or 1970s and has a classic art nouveau revival-style design in which various shades of cream, beige and brown form concentric onion-like shapes. The rug measures 70 x 112cm (approximately 27.5 x 44 inches), and being made from acrylic is very resistant to wear. The John Lyle label is missing from the reverse side, but an identical rug we sold previously did have its label, which indicated that the rug was suitable for "medium domestic or light contract use". The label added that the rug was a genuine British woven long-pile Axminster rug. |
