An original vintage late 1960s's/early 1970's circular Ege Rya de Luxe pure wool Vortex pattern rug

This large circular vintage Ege Rya rug was produced by Ege in Denmark in the late 1960's or very early 1970's as part of the company's Ege Rya de Luxe range of top-quality shag-pile rya rugs. Another rug in this Vortex pattern range – a rectangular version in blues and mustard – can be seen on our Ege Rya spotlight page, second from the right on the bottom row of our chronological line-up of Ege Rya ads, taken from an ad published in 1969.

The swirling abstract Vortex pattern in this circular version of the rug is rendered in cream, beige, sage, mid-brown and black. The rya has a diameter of 185cm and is in excellent condition with no wear, stains or other signs of previous use.
