A near mint vintage 1960's/70's pure wool Polar Sola circular rug by Hojer Eksport of Denmark

This prime quality pure wool rug was produced in the 1960's or early 1970's by Højer Eksport in its Wilton range and is in near mint condition. The rug retains its original label on the reverse side (see picture below) which gives the rug's quality as Polar, the heaviest and densest quality in the company's range, and its title as Sola, reflecting its sun-like circular design.

With a diameter of 2 metres (6 feet and 6.75 inches), this is a large and heavy rug suitable as a centrepiece for a spacious room. The decorative trapezium and chevron devices around the outer edge are picked out from the cream background through the use of various neutral stone-like colours and different wool types and textures, as can be seen in the close-up images below. The rug shows virtually no sign of previous use.
