A vintage early sixties Ege Rya shag rug with an abstract midcentury modern-style design in yellow, brown and oranges

This is a pure wool Ege Rya made in Denmark in the fifties or very early sixties. It no longer has its label on the back, but the particular kind of backing material present in the rug was used by the Ege Rya company in the fifties and through until the early sixties, which allows us to identify the rug as an Ege and give it an approximate date.

The rug has a characteristic midcentury modern jazzy abstract design in brown, orange and a rich eggy yellow. It measures approx 122 x 185cm (48 x 73 inches) and is in very good to excellent condition.
