This original vintage 1960's extra-long shag pile rug has rich texture variations which are achieved by the use of two different wool lengths of around 3.5cm (1.5 inches) and 5cm (2 inches) respectively. Furthermore, within these differing lengths, wools of two different thicknesses and two different reds, one a deep magenta and the other with a slight orange cast, are used.
The rug's label is still present on the reverse side, and this gives the rug's manufacturer as Gabriel of Fredericia and its title as Troldfloss. The pure wool rya measures 140 x 200cm (4 feet 6 inches x 6 feet 7 inches) and is in excellent condition. The fourth and fifth pictures below show a similar rug in room settings from 1965 and 1966 editions of the leading Danish home and interiors magazine.
