A bold and colourful mint condition vintage 1960s/70s pure wool Danish shag-pile rug by Ege Rya

This original 1960s or early 1970s Danish rya has a bold and colourful painterly design formed of broad, brush-like strokes in rust/terracotta, mustard/yellow ochre, purple, coffee brown and ivory white. The rug's original label has been lost from the reverse side, but its texture, weave style and backing material are unique to Ege Rya of Denmark and reveal that this is a genuine Ege Rya rug.

The rug is in perfect, mint condition, and the virgin newness of its pure wool pile indicates that it has never previously been used either on floor or wall. It measures 140 x 200cm (55 x 79 inches).
