A large and heavy vintage pure wool Ege Rya Ekko rug made in Denmark in the 1960s

This original 1960s Danish Ege Rya rug has an abstract geometric design of concentric zigged rectangles in a spectrum of red colours from reddish brown through burgundy, terracotta, brick red, deep orange, dark salmon, coral and dusty pink. The rug's original label is still present and gives the rug's title as Ekko and its date of production as December 1965.

Made in Denmark of 100 per cent pure new wool that has been colourproofed and mothproofed, at 170 x 235cm (67 x 92.5 inches), the rug is larger than the standard Ege Rya size and its dense and heavy pile remains in good condition with moderate wear and no bald or worn-out patches. Also attached to the reverse side is the original leather Ege Rya tag.
