A Nordic-style vintage pure wool Ege Rya de Luxe rya rug made in Denmark in the late 1960s or early 1970s

This vintage Ege Rya de Luxe rug measures 100 x 165cm (39 x 65 inches) and was made by Ege in Denmark in the late 60s to early 70s. The Ege Rya de Luxe series was Ege's top-of-the-range line of rugs, and prominent designers from across Scandinavia were commissioned to design them. The abstract and asymmetrical style of this rug has a particularly Nordic Finnish or Norwegian character and is woven in multiple shades of grey from pale silver to slate together with a rich and luscious polar bear cream. It has an exceptionally dense and heavy shag pile and is in excellent condition.
