A vintage 1960s/1970s shag-pile hand-woven pure wool rya wall hanging with Marimekko-style design

The bold geometric design of this vintage rya wall hanging is classic late 1960s–early 1970s and owes something to Maija Isola's Kaivo design for Finnish textiles company Marimekko. Measuring 35 x 112cm (14 x 44 inches), the wall hanging has a dense and thick shag pile, hand woven in dark and light chocolate brown, beige, cream and rust.

It is in excellent condition with no wear, damage or fading (the areas of lighter colour visible towards the top of the right-hand edge are sunlight falling on that particular patch while the pictures were being taken). Channels along the top and bottom edges on the reverse side of the hanging are designed to take rods or wires (not supplied) for wall display.
