Dispatch and delivery

All purchases are dispatched as soon as possible after receipt of payment, and usually within two business days. Expected delivery times depend on destination and the size and weight of the package, but a rough guide is one to five working days within the UK, two to seven business days to the rest of Europe, three to eight business days to Canada and the United States, and five to ten business days to anywhere else in the world.

Return of items

We are confident you will be happy with your purchases, but should you wish to return any item, let us know as soon as possible by email that you intend to do so, and dispatch it to us by registered post within a week of receiving it. A full refund of the purchase price will be made upon the item's return in the condition in which it was sent to you. Shipping costs will not be refunded unless the item you received differs significantly from its description on the website. For UK returns where no p&p was originally charged, actual p&p cost will be deducted from the refunded purchase price.

Vintage lighting

All lights and lamps at classic modern are original vintage items. We check the lights for damage to wiring or electric fittings and to ensure they are in working order, but because modern electrical safety regulations differ from country to country they are offered for sale as collectors’ items which may not conform to the specific regulations of the buyer’s own country.

Vintage lighting and UK regulations

Regulations introduced in the UK in January 2005 require metal-bodied lights that are installed directly into the mains to have three-core wiring (that is, to have an earth wire and corresponding bulb-holder terminal). For UK-based buyers we will automatically convert lights of this type before dispatch so that they comply with these regulations and may be installed and used in the home. A small number of lights may not be amenable to such conversion, and in these cases this will be noted in their item description. Any UK buyer who would prefer to keep the original two-core fittings should let us know at the time of purchase.

Other electrical items

All electrical items at classic modern are vintage pieces and are offered for sale as collectors’ items which may not conform to the specific electrical safety regulations of the buyer’s country.

The data we collect from you is used only to enable us to process your order and will not be passed on to any third parties or used for any other purpose. We will not add your email address to our mailing list unless this is specifically requested by you.
