Vintage condition
All our items are original vintage productions, and (unless described as mint or unused) may show some evidence of their age in the form of light general wear consistent with careful previous use. We do, however, select our items on the basis of condition as well as style and quality, and will draw attention to any specific or significant damage in the item description.
Vintage lighting
We check our lights thoroughly for any damage to wiring or electric fittings and to ensure they are in working order, but because they are all original vintage items and because regulations differ from country to country, they are offered for sale as collectors’ items which may not conform to the current electrical safety regulations of the buyer’s own country.
Vintage lighting and UK regulations
Regulations introduced in the UK in January 2005 require all metal-bodied lights that are installed directly into the mains to have three-core wiring (that is, to have an earth wire and corresponding bulb-holder terminal). For UK-based buyers we will automatically convert lights of this type (generally metal pendant lights) before dispatch so that they comply with these regulations and may be installed and used in the home. A small number of such lights may not be amenable to such conversion, and in these cases this will be noted in their item description.
Other vintage electrical items
All electrical items at classic modern are vintage pieces and are offered for sale as collectors’ items which may not conform to the current electrical safety regulations of the buyer’s country.
Return of items
We are confident you will be happy with your purchases, but should you wish to return any item, let us know as soon as possible by completing the returns request form, and dispatch the item to us by registered post within a week of receiving it. A full refund of the purchase price will be made upon the item's return in the condition in which it was sent to you. Shipping costs will not be refunded unless the item you received differs significantly from its description on the website.
