A pair of barkcloth cushion covers in bold abstract 1950s textiles |
||
|
With their bold and colourful swoops, the barkcloth textiles used for these cushion covers are typical of the 1950s and demonstrate the spirit of optimism and adventure that informed fabric design in that era. The covers are made from the same fabric on back and front sides, so that one has the predominantly green swoops on both sides and the other predominantly lilacs. The covers have been home-made and the fourth edge has been only partly sewn up, leaving an opening to take the cushion (not included). The covers measure 42 x 35cm each (16.5 x 14 inches) at the outer edges, and 39 x 32cm (15.5 x 12.5 inches) inside the seams. |
