A vintage 1960s woven damask textile with Verner Panton-style tangerine orange targets |
||
|
This vintage 60s fabric has a Verner Panton-style damask design of tangerine orange targets woven in alternating positive and negative outlines on a background of alternating rows of dark burnished gold and light yellow gold. Each negative target outline makes a positive mirror image on the reverse side of the textile and vice versa. The fabric is a strong, high-quality furnishing-weight textile. The background base of alternating dark and light gold has a luminescence that suggests it is a wool/silk mix, while the tangerine targets are woven in a cotton or cotton/silk mix thread. The piece is finished at all four edges, with hemming at top and bottom, and measures 122 x 140cm (48 x 55 inches). For more images please scroll down the page. In the first image below the left side of the fabric is picking up sunlight from a nearby window, and its luminescent quality is making that side look lighter in colour than the right-hand side. This is not in fact the case. |
