A very long vintage 60's wool-mix wall hanging with an onion-motif design in irridescent kingfisher blues

The vivid, metallic kingfisher blue onion-layered design in this vintage 1960's wall hanging has been created in the weave of the textile rather than being printed onto it. Various weave patterns and fibres are used in different parts of the pattern to create the mix of irridescent lustres and matte textures that make up the abstract art nouveau revival-style design.

The textile is a heavy, furnishing weight fabric which we believe to be a silk/wool/cotton mix. This is a very long wall hanging, measuring 113 x 280cm (44.5 x 110.25 inches), nearly twice the length shown in the picture alongside and below. There are nine of the onion motifs in the full length, and each motif has a width of 29cm (11.5 inches).

The textile has a slot sewn along the top edge to take a rod (not supplied) so that it is ready for use as a wall hanging. It is in excellent condition.
