A vintage late 1960s/early 1970s screenprinted hearts textile by Sodahl Design A/S of Denmark |
||
|
This vintage 100 per cent cotton screenprint textile from Denmark has a classic late 60s to early 70s design of repeated heart motifs in dark chocolate brown on a plain white background. The heart motifs are fairly large, each having a width of approximately 12.25cm (just over 4.75 inches), and are placed asymmetrically along the length of the fabric, the right-hand side intentionally having a wider margin of white space than the left. The textile was produced by Sodahl Design A/S, the textiles company founded in 1963 by artist and designer Hans-Jürgen Schöbel, and is marked along its left selvedge with the company's name and the design's title, "Hjerte", the Danish word for hearts. The textile is in excellent condition with no marks or wear. It measures 117cm wide and 255cm in length (46.25 x 100.5 inches) and is hemmed on all four sides. Only part of the textile's length can be seen in the pictures here. For more images please scroll down the page. |
