Vintage vortex oil painting by an unknown artist

This original oil painting was purchased in Denmark and dates from the 1960s or 70s. The artist has used impasto to great effect, creating texture and a sense of motion that suggests a vortex and is reminiscent of some of the (much later) Hubble telescope images. The painting measures 31.5 x 41.5cm (12.5 x 16.5 inches) to the outer edge of the frame and is in excellent condition. Close inspection reveals a 2mm x 3mm patch of damage to the paint at about 7 o'clock just outside the yellow area, but it required a magnifying glass to confirm that this was damage and not an intentional textural detail.
