Data pendant light by Bjarne Bo for Fog & Mørup, 1970s orange
An ultra-rare collectors' item, this ufo-like pendant light was created at the beginning of the 1970s by Danish designer Bjarne Bo (best known for his much-loved and museum-exhibited grater and mandolin slicer) and is very rarely seen today. Made of polyurethane and entitled Data, the lamp was produced in two versions, both of which are shown in the vintage advert included here. This example is a Data 1 in the orange colourway, with a diameter of 40 cm and a height of 16 cm. It is in good condition with signs of age and use, specifically some small scratches and nicks, some patches of mottling around the rim edge, and a ding approximately the size of a 1p coin inside the dome which has broken the surface to reveal a glimpse of the polyurethane foam from which the lamp is constructed. The lamp takes a standard Edison screw bulb max 75w (not included).
