Danish modern pendant light Central by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1967

Designed in 1967 with a diameter of 22.5cm and height of 31.5cm, the Central is a member of Jo Hammerborg's Saturn series – a collection of lights in which Hammerborg, Fog & Mørup's head of design, explored the art of balance and proportion in form through a structure of two concentric cylindrical bands in many different variations of height and width. The chunky proportions of the Central give it a more industrial character than other lights in the Saturn series, while remaining firmly within Hammerborg's realm of Danish and international modernism.

The grey band of the Central's outer ring is complemented by the grey interior face of the bottom inner section, a feature often used by Hammerborg to diffuse harsh glare from the bulb. The lamp is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of previous use, and retains its original Fog & Mørup label. It takes a standard Edison E27 screw bulb max 100w (not included.)
