Roulet spun copper pendant light by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Morup, late 50s

One of the first lamps created by Jo Hammerborg when he joined Fog & Mørup as head of design in 1957, the Roulet is a typically high-quality F&M production in spun copper, its quality clearly demonstrated in this example which remains in superb condition some 60 years later, with the only signs of its age being a few spots of patination and a degree of movement in the brackets that hold the lamp together, which has no impact other than to cause the lamp to wobble if it's placed bottom down on a hard surface; the structure, meanwhile, remains intact and secure. The inner rings and the bottom edge of the outer section are painted in the classic Hammerborg orange which reflects off the lustrous copper surface when the lamp is lit, enhancing the warmth of the light emitted and giving the lamp a cosy glow to create an atmosphere of Danish hygge. The Roulet has a diameter of 34 cm and a height of 21 cm and takes a standard Edison screw bulb max 100w.
