Hydra II pendant light designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960s
The Hydra is a typically understated Jo Hammerborg design for Fog & Mørup, and the lamp was marketed as the first item in Hammerborg's White Line range of "attractive, simple lights [that] can be used in almost any interior, irrespective of colour key or materials". The Hydra was produced in two pendant versions, of which this is the larger, with a diameter of 30cm and a height of 20cm. The strong, white exterior is topped by a series of light-diffusing rings and a bright silver chrome cover for the bulb holder. Glare from the underside is eliminated by a textured acrylic disc mounted inside a metal clip-in mount. The lamp is in very good condition with minimal signs of previous use. It takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb max 75w (not supplied).
