Measuring 25.5 cm in height and 17.5 cm in diameter, the Eifel was one of Jo Hammerborg's earliest designs for Fog & Mørup, dating to the late 1950s or very early 60s. When the lamp is lit, its deep orange internal surfaces reflect light onto the copper-laquered inner rings and vice versa, creating a feedback loop of colourful fiery light which creates the warm and cosy atmosphere that is an essential component of Danish hygge. The lamp is in fair condition with extensive patination and oxidation (see photos), so is well suited to someone who enjoys the vintage character of an item that has survived to tell its tales but makes it unsuitable for anyone looking for a light in pristine condition.
