Large Italian 50s/60s lava girl vase by Caby
An exceptional example – in terms of both quality and size – of 1960s Italian lava pottery. Standing a fraction under 24cm tall and with a diameter of 8.5cm, this is considerably larger than most vases and other ceramic items from this period and style, and the hand-painted high-gloss 60s girl design is an outstandingly delicate rendition signed by Caby, whose work is particularly sought-after by collectors due to its very high quality. The lava in this example is brown and white rather than the more usual black/white combination. There is a 1cm patch of damage to the white glaze at the foot of the vase (see pictures); otherwise the vase is in excellent condition.
