Minisol Danish space-age plastic pendant light from Nordisk Solar Compagni, 1960s
Entitled Minisol, this space-age plastic pendant lamp was designed in the 1960s by K Kewo and produced by Danish lighting manufacturer Nordisk Solar Compagni. Similar in style and scale to Verner Panton's Flowerpot, it has a diameter of 23cm (9 inches) and a height of 19cm (7.5 inches) and is made of ABS plastic – a speciality of Nordisk Solar Compagni at the time courtesy of its subsidiary Audiola, an electric audio products business. This deep red Minisol is in very good condition with minimal signs of use or wear. Three hairline cracks at the top of the lamp where the electric cable enters are a production flaw with no functional consequence and commonly seen in these lights. The lamp is impressed with the Nordisk Solar Compagni logo (see pics) and retains its Nordisk Solar Compagni bulbholder in excellent condition which is impressed with the company's name to the rim. It takes an Edison screw-fitting bulb max 75w (not supplied).
