Seks-Tre-Pendel Danish pendant light by Ole Panton for Lyfa of Denmark, 1960s

The Seks-Tre-Pendel (the Six-Three-Pendant in English) was designed by Danish architect Ole Panton, the brother of Verner, and is named for its geometric form constructed from three hexagons. An April 1969 advert identifies the Seks-Tre-Pendel as a LYFALUX-SERIES production, a branding reserved by Lyfa for their most high-quality design-focused lines. The advertisement explains the LYFALUX-SERIES concept: “Design and function in harmony. A quality that is reflected in the smallest details – a refined style – a great light... These are the requirements for a light to be included in the LYFALUX-SERIES. You can be sure that you're making the right choice when you select a LYFALUX-SERIES lamp. You are choosing one of the most perfect lights.”

This terracotta/brick orange-coloured Seks-Tre-Pendel retains both its Lyfa wattage label and its Lyfa swing tag – the latter suggesting, together with the very clean condition of the electric fittings, that the lamp may never actually have been used. It has, however, sustained moderate damage in the passage of time in the form of some scratches to the external paintwork and a little patination/oxidation to some of the interior corners (see photos). The Seks-Tre takes a standard Edison screw bulb max 100w (not supplied) and measures 22 cm in width by 25 cm in height.
