Semi pendant light pair by Bonderup & Thorup for Fog & Mørup/Lyfa, 1970s

Semi pendant light pair by Bonderup & Thorup for Fog & Mørup/Lyfa, 1970s

Designed in 1967 by Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup and put into production by Fog & Mørup while the design duo were still students, the Semi proved an immensely popular light and was one of just a handful of Fog & Mørup designs that continued in production after the company was taken over at the end of the 1970s by another prestigious Danish lighting company, Lyfa A/s. The labels still present in this pair tell us that they were produced under the Lyfa branding in the period before Lyfa was itself taken over by another company in the 1980s. As the labels also show, these are the Semi Micros with diameters of 25 cm. They are offered for sale together as a single pair, and both are in excellent condition with minor light wear. They take small Edison screw golfball bulbs max 40w (not supplied), and Fog & Mørup's catalogues recommended the use of a crown silver bulb with the Semi to prevent glare, though they are pictured here with ordinary non-silvered bulbs.
