Pair of Alfa wall lamps by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960s
One of Jo Hammerborg's first wave of lighting designs for Fog & Mørup, the Alfa wall light and its sibling the Beta table lamp appear in F&M catalogues for spring 1963, but this particular iteration of the Alfa, in battleship grey and silvery spun aluminium, first appears in a Fog & Mørup catalogue dating from 1966. With an angle-adjustable 11cm diameter head and a projection from the wall of 24–28 cm depending on head angle, the Alfa is a compact lamp most suited for use as a reading lamp mounted over a desk or bedside table. These two are offered for sale as a single pair and are in very good condition with minor wear (see photos) and mismatched on/off switches (one white and the other black). The lamps are mounted via their original wall plates (included) which are attached to the wall with two screws (not supplied) and which the brackets on the lamps' bases then simply hook onto.
