Kastor brass pendant light by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960s

Created in 1969 for Fog & Mørup by the company's head of design Jo Hammerborg, the Kastor is a strong statement lamp with an imposing presence sufficient to form a centrepiece in any room and particularly well-suited for use over a dining table or other focal point. The lamp was produced in two versions, one in solid brass and the other copper, this example being the brass version, which has a matt midcentury mustard yellow interior. With a height of 37 cm and a diameter of 32 cm, the light weighs in at 3 kg and will require professional installation to ensure that it is adequately supported. It takes an Edison screw E27 bulb max 100w (or eco equivalent) (not supplied). The lamp is in very good condition with light scuffing to two of the eight panels (see photos), though their highly reflective surface minimises any impact these small flaws might have on the overall impression.
