Tampella of Finland Sateensaari red orange yellow rainbow textile 1970s

This vintage 1970s textile was made in Tampere, Finland by the Tampella textiles company, and the 100% cotton fabric's artwork is entitled Sateensaari. Likely designed by Marjatta Seppälä, who created other works in a similar block-colour style for Tampella during the 70s including the much-loved Apia, the design depicts a group of houses in hilly woodland beneath a vividly coloured rainbow rendered in red, orange, yellow, tan, black and stone on a brown background. 

There are three repeats of the scene on the piece, which measures 143 cm in width and 206 cm in height and has been made up into a (single) curtain, with a weighted hem at the bottom and brown header tape at the top (hooks not supplied). It would alternatively make a very strong graphic wall hanging if the header tape were untied to allow the full width to be extended at the top edge. The item is in superb condition, with no fading or damage, and just one small (approx 0.5 x 0.5 cm) dirt mark (see close-up photo) which should easily be removed by washing.
