Space-age hanging ball lamp pair by Abo Randers of Denmark, 1970s

Offered for sale as a pair (the price shown is for both together), these rich egg-yolk yellow eyeball lamps were made in the 70s by the Abo Randers lighting company of Denmark. Their strong, glossy metal balls have a diameter of 11 cm and a height of 10 cm, while the overall dimensions including their hanging frames are 14 cm width and 14 cm height. The lamps can be suspended with the use of the supplied slotted cable grips (pictured) which are designed to be screwed into a ceiling joist or similar, and their 4.7 metre-long cables enable most hanging height options. The screw handles on the hanging frames allow the lamps to be pointed at almost any angle, making them suitable as spotlights in addition to their use as local area lights, for example over a desk or beside a reading chair. The lamps take a small Edison screw golfball E24 bulb max 40w (or eco equivalent) (not supplied) and are fitted with European two-pin plugs. Both are in excellent condition with very little wear beyond a couple of tiny chips to the paintwork on one side of one of the pair (see photo).
