Finlayson of Finland vintage 1960s textile

Purchased in Piikiö, Finland, this vintage 1960s candystripe textile is in perfect condition with no fading, stains or other damage. The strong, tightly woven cotton fabric measures 138.5cm square (54.5 inches) and has been hemmed on all four sides, suggesting that the original intention was for use as a tablecloth/cover. The cerise, burnt orange, dusty yellow and burgundy combination is a classic mid-to-late 1960s Finlayson colourway (see accompanying Finlayson adverts from 1966 and 1967 respectively), and although there is no maker's label present, this colouring together with the bold striped style indicates that the textile is a Finlayson production.
