Yellow Contact lamp by Peter Avondoglio for Fog & Morup, 1970s Danish modern

US-born architect Peter Avondoglio was a professor at Denmark's Kunstakademiet when in 1973 his Contact lamp design was produced by Fog & Mørup. Made from lacquered aluminum, the Contact lamp is a dual-use table and wall lamp with a large push-button on/off switch which when turned also controls the sliding bulb screen to adjust the amount of light emitted. In 1974 the Contact lamp was featured in a special edition of Mobilia magazine dedicated to showcasing 100 examples of the best of Danish design chosen as “up-to-the-minute examples of Danish industry”. “Each of these products,” the magazine’s editorial explained, “in its own way and on its own terms combines reasonable proportions of economy, function and aesthetics.”  The lamp stands 21 cm tall and has a diameter of 7 cm. This example in yellow is in excellent condition. It retains its original European two-pin plug and a Fog & Mørup labels to the base.
