Pair of Sera pendant lights designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960s

The Sera pendant light first appears in the record in 1968, and with its diameter of 38cm and height of 10cm is the flattest, broadest member of Jo Hammerborg's Saturn series – a collection of lights in which Hammerborg explored the art of balance and proportion in form through a structure of two concentric cylindrical bands in many different variations of height and width. The Sera's outermost cylindrical band has a cerise (a strong rose pink) interior face, so that when the lamp is lit the colour reflects onto the outer surface of the silvery spun aluminium inner section, creating a warm, cosy and colourful effect. 

These two Seras are offered for sale as a pair, and the price shown is for both lamps together. The pair are extremely well matched in all respects, from the excellent condition of both lamps' external surfaces which have only minimal wear, to the shade, tone and intensity of the interior cerise colouring, which remains strong and vivid in both cases, and the absence of any warping in the lamps' textured glare-preventing perspex diffusers. It is very unusual to find two examples in such excellent and matching condition, which is why we are offering them only together as a pair. Each lamp takes two standard E27 Edison screw bulbs max 60w (not supplied).
