Irma Yourstone Upsala Ekeby ceramic wall plaque

Measuring approximately 27.5 x 21cm (11 x 8.5 inches), this heavy ceramic wall plaque was made by Irma Yourstone at the Upsala Ekeby pottery in Sweden in the 60's or early 70's and is in perfect condition with no damage. The dark leaves of the plant motif with their matte, milky glaze provide a contrast in both colour and texture to frame the glossy, rich turquoise flower. The plaque is incised on the reverse side with the Upsala Ekeby UE and Irma Yourstone's IY monograms (the European-style I looking more like a J to those accustomed to English script styles), and the plaque's design number 1071 Y.
