Danish hygge style Matador lamp by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960s

Danish hygge style Matador lamp by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960sFog & Mørup

A little known and rarely seen Jo Hammerborg design entitled Matador, this is the perfect lamp for creating an area of cosy warmth and Danish hygge in the living room or bedroom. Produced by top Danish lighting company Fog & Mørup in the 1960s and measuring 17.5 cm in both height and width, the light has an ultra-strong outer outer shell with a matte black exterior and the classic Hammerborg burnt sienna (a warm dark orange) interior, which throws a warm and fiery reflection onto the polished copper inner shell when the bulb is lit. It is in excellent condition with some light spotting to the interior struts and a near-mint exterior. Its Fog & Mørup label is still present and includes the words Dansk Design, indicating that this particular Matador was originally sold in Germany. The lamp takes a standard Edison screw bulb max 60w (not supplied).
