Rise-and-fall pendant light designed by Fritz Schlegel for Lyfa

Danish architect Fritz Schlegel designed this bell-shaped light for Lyfa, called the P295, but better known as the Schlegel-lampe, in 1938. It remained in production for more than four decades. This example, in brass, can be dated with precision to the late 1970s shortly after Lyfa merged with Fog & Mørup, and is one of only a few lamps to carry both manufacturers' labels in the short period before the Fog & Mørup brand was abandoned at the start of the 1980s. The lamp has a diameter of 44 cm and a height of 30 cm and is in very good condition with small signs of previous use. It comes with its original integral ceiling cap and rise-and-fall height adjuster, both of which are made from a soft and malleable brass, in contrast to the lampshade itself which is hard and strong.
