This rare and spectacular Danish art light in rich orange and battleship grey lacquered metal is entitled Octagon and was made by Lyfa in the late 1960s. A January 1968 advert for the Octagon identifies it as one of Lyfa's premium Lyfalux series, a branding reserved for their highest-quality and most design-focused lines. The advertisement describes the Lyfalux concept as “Design and function in harmony. A quality that is reflected in the smallest details – a refined style – a great light... These are the requirements for a light to be included in the Lyfalux series. You can be sure that you're making the right choice when you select a Lyfalux series lamp. You are choosing one of the most perfect lights.”
Measuring 26 cm in width and 31 cm in height, the lamp weighs a hefty 4.4 kg and will certainly need to be installed by a qualified electrician to ensure that its substantial weight is suitably supported. The lamp is in excellent condition with only minor signs of previous use (see photos). It retains its metal Lyfa tag and takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb max 150w (not supplied).
