Pirkko Hammarberg for Barker Suomi Finland art textile original 1970s

Purchased in the city of Turku in Finland, this vintage 100% cotton art textile was produced by the then Turku-based Barker textiles company in the 1970s with a design by Finnish textiles artist Pirkko Hammarberg. The bold geometric artwork has been screenprinted in chocolate brown on a lightly slubbed natural off-white cotton and features a series of cup-like arc shapes that are progressively deeper/shallower as they appear further up/down the fabric. Measuring 142 cm wide and 238 cm deep, the textile is hemmed at top and bottom with open sides to take a hanging pole for use as a curtain or as wall art. The piece is in excellent, virtually mint condition and the selvedge is printed with its credentials: Pirkko Hammarberg Barker Suomi Finland.
