Textile artwork by Hans-Jürgen Schöbel for Södahl Design of Denmark, 1960s/70s
Produced in the 1960's and 70's by Södahl Design A/S, the Danish textiles company founded in 1963 by artist and designer Hans-Jürgen Schöbel as a vehicle for his own artworks, these vintage screen-printed hessian/jute wall hangings have become vanishingly rare in recent years. This psychedelic double peacock motif has been silkscreen-printed in a vibrant spectrum of blues and greens onto an unbleached jute textile panel measuring 68 cm wide and 69 cm in height. The artwork is in mint condition with no damage or fading and is ready for wall hanging, mounted on its original wooden rods with a fine nylon hanging string across the top rod.
