Claus Bolby Veega acrylic art wall light 1968

In 1968 Danish lighting designer Claus Bolby began creating wall lights using acrylic strips, experimenting with different lighting effects by introducing bubbles into the acrylic and layering the strips in different ways. These experiments resulted in the Veega wall light, which was produced by hand in small quantities and was so well received that Bolby subsequently modified the design for factory production and began large-scale production at his own lighting company Cebo. This is an example of the original, amber-like hand-made Veega, which at 16 x 25 cm is substantially larger than its later mass-produced offspring and an eye-catching fixture that will make its presence felt in any room. It takes a straight-sided small Edison screw bulb which is provided with the lamp (replacements are easily available and are currently sold as cooker hood bulbs), has an inline on/off switch and is fitted with a European style 2-pin plug.
