Equator multi-ring pendant light by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup, 1960s
Created in the late 1960s by Jo Hammerborg, head of design at top Danish lighting producer Fog & Mørup, the Equator is a colourful lamp offering effective general illumination, its open design distributing widespread light in both upward and downward directions, but works equally well hung low over a dining table or coffee table where the multiple rings shield the eye from direct light from the bulb. Measuring 40 cm in diameter and 24 cm in height, the lamp is in very good vintage condition with light wear, mainly in the form of some paint loss along the rim edges (see photos), and retains its Fog & Mørup label inside the top section housing the bulbholder.
